Marge

Marge LAB is a part of the office that conducts project-based knowledge development within the framework of the projects carried out in the office. Through a well-established contact network and established research collaborations, we immerse ourselves in the physical and social aspects of architecture. We strive to drive architectural development in collaboration with users, clients, municipalities and academia. A combination of different actors in each development project enables new and practical knowledge and ensures that the knowledge that is developed is relevant to those involved.

Read more about some of our research projects here:

Lab Timber on top Timber on top
Timber on Top is a collaborative project exploring densification and extended building lifespans through the flexible reuse of existing structures, using extensions and additions made from reusable, bio-based prefabricated building systems.
Lab Visioner i norr Visioner i norr
Visioner i Norr explores how the green transition in northern Sweden can create beautiful, resilient, and inclusive living environments. As part of a selected team within the framework of the EU initiative New European Bauhaus, Marge envisioned a dense and sustainable future for Umeå.
Lab 4Q 4Q Gestaltade kvalitéer i vård- och omsorgsboenden
4Q explores how four qualities—identified by researchers as essential to support the designed living environment in care homes—can be related to architectural form and expression. The aim is to develop the concept of quality in care and nursing homes from an architectural perspective and to contribute to a shared knowledge platform. The project was carried out in collaboration with Land Arkitektur and a selected group of researchers, with support from ARKUS and the ARQ Foundation.
Lab Verket Verket
Verket is a practice-based research project in collaboration with ArkDes and the Municipality of Ulricehamn. The project explores how innovative design and management strategies can transform technical facilities and industrial sites to meet the needs of the future.

We are always interested in new research collaborations and are happy to participate in research applications. Get in touch with erik.h@marge.se for more information!
